Hands-On Measurement
A refreshing approach to measurement providing a task analysis of the skills children need to understand measurement and to give a variety of activities which allow students to learn these skills. All activities are hands-on and each lesson has a list of necessary materials, recommended classroom organization and a basic explanation of the lesson format. Includes extensions and blackline masters as well as many lessons on teaching the metric system. Hands On books help teachers effectively teach math by using manipulatives or "Hands On" materials. Each lesson is designed FOR TEACHERS BY TEACHERS, who have used these manipulative lessons in their classrooms. Each lesson is coded to the task analysis and contains the named task, materials needed, organization, class procedures, and samples of graphics needed to teach the lesson. Manipulatives used in these books are common everyday items, easily used and inexpensively obtained by teachers. Hands On books augment and enrich any math program and are compatible with all math series.
